MCN Department of Education and Training
The Department of Education and Training provides oversight of comprehensive programs that result in quality educational opportunities for Muscogee (Creek) people from early childhood through college. To help better serve the students, we are partnered with several local and surrounding universities and colleges.
Accessing Choices in Education (ACE) Project
The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Accessing Choices in Education Project enhances student and family educational choices by creating a Service Provider System that includes evidence-based, culturally responsive service options to improve Native American student academic outcomes.

At-Large Student Honor Cord
The Muscogee (Creek) Nation High School Senior Honor Cord Program is an initiative to honor all graduating high school seniors for their persistence and dedication to successfully complete their secondary school goals. All eligible students will receive a braided, green-and-gold graduation cord with a custom, full-color charm of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation seal to wear during graduation and to keep as a token of their accomplishments.
This application is for students who live outside The Muscogee Reservation or attend a school district that is not serviced by MCN JOM.
Honor cords will be mailed out in the order received and will NOT be expedited for delivery. We encourage students to be mindful of and adhere to their school graduation requirements.
Eligibility
- The student must be an enrolled citizen of The Muscogee (Creek) Nation.
- The student must be graduating high school within the 2023 – 2024 school year.
- Students may apply/receive one (1) high school senior honor cord. Multiple applications for the same student will be dismissed.
- Please allow adequate time for your application to be processed and mailed. The MCN Education Department does not guarantee that the cord will be received by the graduation date.
Application Period: January 22, 2024–June 1, 2024, or while supplies last.

MCN Johnson O’Malley Program
The Muscogee Nation Johnson O’Malley Program is a comprehensive program that includes academic education, cultural awareness, and community involvement according to the guidelines of the federal regulations governing Johnson O’Malley programs. The Muscogee (Creek) Nation JOM program services 11 counties. The program services 20,414 students representing 574 federally recognized tribes of which 7,975 students are Muscogee (Creek) tribal members.

The Challenge Bowl
The Challenge Bowl is a Muscogee (Creek) Nation event that is administered through the Johnson O’Malley Program.
The purpose of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Challenge Bowl is to promote our children to learn about the Creek culture, history, government, and language using traditional values of brotherhood as a foundation. The Challenge Bowl Committee made a commitment to set by example, positive role models in good citizenship and tribal pride that would carry on throughout the year and not just during the few days of competition.
Each year Muscogee (Creek) Nation employees and community members prepare for the competition by having monthly core group sessions to prepare the study guides, competition questions, and conducting training sessions for volunteers. It is a great deal of work but seeing the faces of the students, parents, and sponsors during the competition and awards ceremony is worthwhile. The Challenge Bowl brings the schools, community, employees, and citizens together with the common goal of developing tribal pride within our youth.

NYCP Education Resources
The NYCP Education Resources website is for teachers to have access to culturally responsive resources. The website also serves as the sustainability portion of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Native Youth Community Project (NYCP) and the State Tribal Education Partnership (STEP) grants that were awarded in 2015 and 2017 and concluded on September 30, 2022.

Euchee Language Learning Center After-schoolProgram
The Euchee Language Afterschool Program is open to school-aged Muscogee (Creek) Nation citizens and area Euchee descendants. After-school classes are held Monday through Friday. Classes begin upon students’ arrival and conclude at 5:15 pm. Students from five area schools are transported to the center for class and then transported home.
Summer Program
The Euchee Language Summer Program is an eight-week course focused on immersing students in the ‘EyaPAnE’ (Green Corn) language used at the Euchee ceremonial grounds. Classes are held Monday through Friday from 11 am to 3 pm.
Applications for the Afterschool Program and the Summer School Program are available at the Euchee Language Learning Center.
Community Classes
Community Classes are open to Muscogee (Creek) Nation citizens and area Euchee descendants.
Spring and Winter Community Classes are held Monday through Friday from 10 am to 11 am. Attendees are welcome to stay for the Elders Class beginning at 11 am.
Evening Community Class is held year-round on Wednesdays from 6 pm to 8 pm.

MCN Head Start
The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Head Start is a highly efficient preschool program that focuses on preparing children for educational and social development. Children learn to accept themselves, explore the environment, and learn on an individual basis, and as part of a group. Early childhood experiences determine how well a child performs in school and beyond. All children deserve a quality early educational experience. We want to enrich this developmental stage in each child’s life, as they become prepared for public school.

Department of Higher Education
The Department of Higher Education administers grants and scholarship programs to enrolled citizens of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. Our purpose is to provide supplemental financial assistance to Creek students pursuing a college-level education.
The Higher Education Department encourages a positive student experience and graduation by providing supplemental financial assistance to student-citizens of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation in pursuing an undergraduate or post-graduate degree.

MCN Scholarship Foundation
The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Scholarship Foundation Program’s central purpose is to promote self-sufficiency, proactive community participation, self-reliance, self-determination, tribal sovereignty, and a sustainable future for Muscogee (Creek) Nation citizens through traditional gift giving and support of academic scholarship, community initiatives, and research that benefit the growth and prosperity of Muscogee (Creek) Nation communities.

Special Academic/Extra Curricular Activity Grant
The Special Academic/Extra-Curricular Activities Grant works to address the variety of educational needs of Mvskoke citizens.
This grant was created as a one-time supplemental funding opportunity for students who have exhausted all other funding sources to support their needs. The grant can support but is not limited to the following academic purposes: Senior items, tutoring fees, tuition, past balance, testing fees, or required supplies. The application process can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks for approval and disbursement. Restrictions for the Extra-Curricular grant include: no personal expenses, sports equipment or fees, and school or sports trips/camps.

Vocational Rehabilitation Services Program
Muscogee (Creek) Nation Vocational Rehabilitation Services Program is designed for American Indians with disabilities that pose a permanent impediment to employment to prepare for, enter, and retain suitable employment consistent with their strengths, abilities, capabilities, and interests. Scope of services is any services that are described in the Individualized Plan for Employment with services provided in a manner that is consistent with each eligible consumer’s needs and informed choice.

Virtual Learning Support Program
This program provides assistance to students whose learning opportunities have been negatively impacted as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Eligible students and scholars may receive a one-time stipend of $850 to support technology needs that support virtual learning.
The Virtual Learning Support Program will be available again at a later date.
